MasterTech is a Skilled Trades recruitment agency that places dock and door technicians with commercial door dealers, dock equipment distributors, national service providers and facility maintenance teams across the US and Canada. We recruit overhead door technicians for sectional and rolling steel doors, rolling fire door technicians, dock equipment technicians for levelers, restraints, seals and shelters, high speed door specialists and gate operator installers on a direct-hire basis. We work on contingency: no up-front fees, and you are invoiced only after your new hire starts.

The industry

How we recruit dock and door talent

A dock down is a shipping bay down, so this trade lives on response time. The technicians worth hiring are the ones who can find a hydraulic, electrical or pneumatic fault on a leveler or an operator, carry the parts to finish the call the same day, and close out the paperwork before they leave the site.

We recruit on the product lines a candidate has serviced, any IDEA certifications they hold, and whether they can run a call alone. Rolling fire doors need a technician trained to drop test them under NFPA 80, and install crews often need welding and boom truck experience, so we check both when the role calls for it. Installers, service technicians and the field supervisors who schedule them all come through the same recruiting team.

Dock & Door hiring FAQ

Straight answers.

Which dock and door roles do you recruit for?
Commercial overhead door technicians for sectional and rolling steel doors, rolling fire door technicians, dock equipment technicians for levelers, restraints, seals and shelters, high speed door specialists, gate and operator installers, residential garage door technicians, installers and lead installers, service technicians, field supervisors, and service managers and dispatchers.
Do you recruit technicians qualified to test rolling fire doors?
Yes. NFPA 80 requires rolling steel fire doors to be inspected and drop tested every year by a technician with documented training from an industry organization or the door manufacturer. We confirm that training, and any IDEA fire door certification, before a candidate reaches your desk.
